RIP Verne Troyer

#RIP: actor Verne Troyer has died at the age of 49. While he played Griphook in “#HarryPotter and the #SorcerorsStone”, he will likely be mostly remembered for playing Mini-Me in the #AustinPowers films.

Our condolences to Verne Troyer’s family, friends and fans on his passing. May he rest in peace.

“Babylon 5” Revival Unlikely According to its Creator

During an extended series of tweets on yesterday evening, #Babylon5 creator J. Michael Straczynski stated that his award winning sci-fi series’ current television rights holder (Warner Bros.) has no intention of either doing anything with the license themselves or allowing anyone else to do anything with it either.

This is in stark contrast to J. Michael Straczynski’s optimism that he’d had 4 years ago at San Diego Comic Con (2014) when he told an audience that he was looking to do a feature film as a reboot with new actors.

Unfortunately, while J. Michael Straczinski owns the film rights to “Babylon 5”, no studio has expressed interest in filming a movie without the accompanying television rights that Warner Bros. is unwilling to license.

Warner Bros. execs unwillingness to budge on the “Babylon 5” TV rights license may stem from a longstanding grudge related to a now defunct TV network called PTEN upon which B5 originally aired and which some WB execs were not permitted to play with even though WB was a part owner of the network.

Sadly this is simply bad news for fans of the B5 franchise.

“Harry Potter A History of Magic” Documentary

A documentary entitled “#HarryPotter A History of Magic” was aired on BBC 2 in the U.K.  in 2017. The documentary was created in connection with the 20th anniversary of the release of the first book (published in the U.K. in 1997), as well as the opening of an exhibit of the same name in the British Museum.

For those who haven’t seen the documentary, it can be watched in its entirety (with a lot of randomly inserted ads) on the DailyMotion website:

The documentary includes J.K. Rowling and several actors who appeared in the Harry Potter movies:

  • Warwick Davis
  • Evanna Lynch
  • Miriam Margolyes
  • David Thewlis
  • Mark Williams

The documentary is also narrated by Imelda Staunton.

Copies of documentary have been released on DVD, but they are only Region 2, meaning that they won’t play on typical blu-ray or DVD players sold in the United States. You would need a blu-ray or DVD player capable fo playing Region 2 DVD’s in order to watch it. Hence, we didn’t include any links of where to purchase the Region 2 DVD, but anyone interested can google it.
